Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 & GTX 1070: UK release date and price

The GTX 1080 will be made available on 27 May 2016, whilst the GTX 1070 will come slightly later with a release date of 10 June 2016. We're not sure why there's a release date gap between the graphics cards, but we're excited at a pre-summer holidays launch date.
Nvidia will be selling its 'Founder Edition' cards, previously known as reference cards, directly through their website, while third-party manufacturers, such as MSI, EVGA, Gigabyte, ASUS among others, will most likely use a different dual-fan design.
Pricing has yet to be confirmed in the UK with Nvidia announcing its US pricing at $599 (~£415) for the GTX 1080 and $379 (~£260) for the GTX 1070. Interestingly enough the Founder Edition of the GTX 1070 will cost $449 (~£310), we will have to wait and see what this version brings.

Given that both GPUs are $50 more than their predecessor's launch price, with the GTX 980 sitting at £429 and 970 at £259, we expect the UK price for the latest Pascal GPUs to be around £449 for the GTX 1080 and £289 for the GTX 1070 and £339 for the GTX 1070 Founder Edition - making them affordable GPUs given their prospective speed gains - read on to find out about their performance.

Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 & GTX 1070: Performance comparisons & technical specifications

The GTX 1080 and 1070 run on Nvidia's new Pascal GP104 architecture, both of which have unbelievable specs and quoted performance gains over previous generation Nvidia cards.
According to Nvidia, the GTX 1080 is faster than SLI GeForce GTX 980s - that's two once-flagship GPUs being outpaced by a single GTX 1080. For enthusiasts running 4K screens, it was often the case of choosing SLI 980s over a single Titan X, which on its own is a ridiculously powerful graphics card.
If the claims are to be true in real-world gaming performance, it's safe to say we will have two of the best graphics cards on the market, both of which are affordable, unlike the Titan X which retailed for around £80, while its gaming-centric brother, the GTX 980ti, retailed for around £550 - Nvidia has got us (and many around the world) excited about these graphics cards, that's for sure!
The GTX 1080 and 1070 are using the new 16nm FinFET TSMC manufacturing process, which means more power and efficiency in comparison to the older 28nm process found on Maxwell cards.
The new architecture not only brings performance gains, but excellent power efficiency (as shown in Nvidia's graph below).

There was a big push during the launch event about virtual reality. VR has grown in popularity among gamers and tech enthusiast; it therefore comes as no surprise that Nvidia's event talked about the integration of the new GPUs within a virtual reality environment. Nvidia's VRWorks Audio, a tool for developers and eventually consumers is therefore a good leap for those wanting to venture into the world of VR.
There is also a new game-centric photography tool that Nvidia are set to launch with the two graphics cards. Nvidia Ansel, a way of editing and viewing different angles of your screenshot and even having the ability to take full 360 VR screenshots - an exciting prospect for a selection of games which will have full support for Ansel.
All of the above features are those showcased alongside the graphics cards, and provide a healthy step forward for current-gen Nvidia GPU owners.
That's all good, but what are their specifications?
